Eden Leatherman
Wilm’s Tumor Cancer Survivor
Gilroy, CA
I was diagnosed with Wilm’s tumor a rare childrens cancer in 1985 and 1988. It changed my life in many ways. I missed a lot of school and did not have a typical childhood. I experienced chemo, radiation and the removal of my kidney and a portion of my lung. I have a wonderful bond with my sisters and mom for getting me through cancer. Cancer still effects me as I have congestive heart failure as a side effect from the chemo and radiation I received.
I heard about Erena on yelp and I saw about the underwater transformations. I was really intrigued. I didn’t have any expectations going into it, I was really nervous. It was a wonderful experience! Erena was welcoming and supportive. I had a hard time getting comfortable at first but she was so positive so I started to feel more sure of myself. I felt vulnerable but safe. I felt free and alive. It was fun once I relaxed. Erena was so great. She was encouraging and supportive. she offered me suggestions but let me be creative. She was a joy to work with.
I think many survivors don’t feel like themselves after cancer treatment. I have always been self conscious of my scars and this experience allowed me to feel full and beautiful just the way I am.
