Tina Mendenhall – Breast Cancer Survivor
I’m Tina Mendenhall, a Tucson, Arizona native. I’m a full-time mother of three, I discovered during my first mammogram at 40 I had cancer on my left breast. I chose a double mastectomy and is now happy and proud to say I have been cancer free for 2 years and 8 months!
I wanted to participate with Underwater Healer project for my kids. My children have watched both parents fight incredible sickness and I want to show them I’m a strong, beautiful survivor. I also believe it will not only help me and my family heal, but also heal those recently diagnosed. Survivors need survivors to survive. To see a survivor surviving gives strength.
Underwater photo shoot was harder than it sounds! In turn, it was more fun than I expected!
The energy in that pool was something very special. Keeping the group small made it very intimate. It ensured a connection with everyone involved. The feeling underwater gave comfort in the sense of youthfulness and joy. It was a permission to laugh. It’s a celebration of life!
I would recommend this to other survivors! Thanks again Erena! It was a pleasure meeting you! I can’t thank you enough for allowing me to be a part of something so positive!
